Eischen Jute Works

By Barbara Rogers

Bean bags are more than casual seating. In the hands of local San Jose artist Biz Eischen, the empty jute sacks originally containing 150 lbs. of fresh coffee beans become works of art.

Those who take pleasure in art, relish fresh-roasted coffee, and enjoy seeing truly new craft projects should take in Eischen’s Jute Works  display at the Crema Coffee Roasting Co., 950 The Alameda, San Jose during the month of April.

A gifted artist in many disciplines, Eischen recently recognized an opportunity when she saw one of the colorful, discarded jute coffee bean bags hanging on the wall of the Crema Coffee Roasting Co. Accepting all they had and garnering more from other coffee bean roasting facilities, she has created spectacular and colorful wall hangings which are available for sale from $395 to $450 and up.

Recently featured in the Mercury News, Eischen’s Jute Works also is described as global, organic, and cool in her use of colorful graphics on these discarded jute coffee bean bags made into wall hangings. Be sure to stop by the Crema Coffee Roasting Co. this month and enjoy Jute Works by this local, talented artist.
