Proposed New Luxury Hotel Taken To The Cleaners

Luxury Hotel on De Anza

Luxury Hotel on De Anza

Since the gorgeous proposed luxury 138 room hotel on De Anza just
north of Stevens Creek will be built on a site where a gas station and
car wash presently are located, clearing the land is no quick fix.
When the hotel, restaurant, bar, lounge and conference/banquet rooms are completed it will be difficult to remember where it all began. Much like a really dirty shirt is put through the extreme wash cycle with a strong detergent in a washing machine to make it wearable, it was announced at the Oct. 22nd meeting of Cupertino’s Environmental Review Comm. the soil and groundwater of the new hotel must start the Santa Clara County Environmental Dept.’s soil and groundwater cleanup process before plans can go forward.
Soil will be removed and cleaned, and groundwater will be pumped through a filtration system and monitored before, during and after construction of the hotel by the county. After testing, it was determined that just a small fraction of the land has been affected. Another positive for the hotel is that it will be a green project, with a Lead Silver building. While 6 existing trees said to be in poor condition are slated for removal, a comprehensive landscape plan will mediate the loss.
