Cupertino Stores Closed Or Closing

While Cupertino shops and stores seemed to be holding their
own during this awful downturn in the economy, two favorites have closed and
another is closing. Mervyn’s at The Crossroads shutting their doors is probably
more of a corporate decision than a lack of business in Cupertino. Most folks
we’ve spoken to will miss Mervyn’s, but had noticed a change in the type of
merchandise after the original owner sold.

Peninsula Beauty Supply in the same center will soon close as well. At this point the store is
offering deep discounts. It’s a shame to lose the store, just one in a
chain–however, with Mervyn ’s gone, there most likely isn’t enough foot traffic
to support their business.

We were very disappointed to find that Bath & Body Works had, with no fanfare or notice,
ceased business in Cupertino Square. This was a shock, since the store always
seemed busy. One of  our faves, the loss of B & B leaves a huge void, and
another retail setback for the Cupertino Square.

We’re hoping both stores will find other locations within Cupertino to open and do business
in our city. With the new Food Court opening in Cupertino Square, and AMC
attracting huge crowds, we can only hope that stores needing foot traffic will
open there soon. - editor
