It has been a while since I have written an article here on the Cupertino Daily, but the upcoming race for Cupertino City Council has rekindled excitement in Cupertino this scorching summer of 2009. No, I’m not going to run again for Cupertino City Council. Having run twice, I have grown weary, tired, and perplexed with local politics in Cupertino. I have discovered, first hand, that politics can be ugly and contentious, and can simultaneously bring out the best and worst of human traits.

As a result, I choose not to participate as a candidate, but rather as a concerned citizen of our great city of Cupertino. I wish all the candidates that choose to run for Cupertino City Council the best of luck. I will also do my part to stay neutral in this election cycle and contribute in helping all candidates distribute their messages to the city, and in helping voters and citizens to take part in the public debate over ideas and issues. I invite each candidate to post their thoughts on the Cupertino Daily to reach readers and voters in our city in an objective and non-salesmanship like tone. I also invite local Cupertino residents, groups, and supporters to send to me their thoughts and contribute position papers/articles on why they support their candidates and what issues they believe are the most pressing for our wonderful and diverse city. I will attempt to post these articles on the Cupertino Daily with minimal edit to provide the best clarity of the author’s voice.
Comments will be left open in all posts, so readers and voters can voice their thoughts and comments during this very interesting local election. So, let’s get the ball rolling. Let the drum roll play. Which Cupertino candidate, resident, or group wants to contribute their first post?
As for me, I’ve been enjoying life in Cupertino with my wonderful family and kids. I’ve also been happy working in my patent law practice and occasionally starting and contributing to interesting start-ups in which I can add value. Our family is also in the process opening a creperie in Cupertino, called Bonjour Crepe Company on the corner of Blaney and Stevens Creek. Somewhat surprisingly, Bonjour Crepe Company has built quite a notable local Twitter following in Cupertino even before the grand opening (now approaching more than 700 followers). If all goes well, we’ll open in a month or so, and hope to deliver delicious, consistent, and high quality savory and sweet crepes.
