Twitter CEO communicates at DEMO conference without saying much

Today marked the start of the 20th anniversary of the DEMO conference. The conference, which was held in the Hyatt Regency, lasts until Wednesday evening and over 60 companies will launch their companies here by presenting “demo’s” of their products and websites today.

In addition, the day featured a variety of panels, including: enterprise technologies, mobile technologies and cloud technologies.

The afternoon included a presentation by Jack Dorsey, the Co-Founder and Chairman of Twitter, Inc and the CEO and Co-Founder of Square. Dorsey spoke about some of the lessons that he learned from Twitter. Matt Marshall of Venturebeat asked Dorsey what the companies presenting at DEMO could learn from his experiences with Twitter. Dorsey pointed out that initially Twitter, despite being company centered on communication, was not doing a good job of communicating with it users. It took time for Twitter to start a blog and engage its users by telling them why the site would go down. He also mentioned that the company did not start out by focusing on analytics and data, so it was hard to track problems and issues.

Dorsey also hinted that his next start-up venture might revolve around the health care industry. Meanwhile, despite the news buzzing that Twitter was about to make a big announcement about features that it was adding to its site, Dorsey refused to comment.
